Total Control Tuesday: Summer Planning Version

in 30-Minute Mommy,30-Minute Organizer

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I’m all in favor of a summer control center. I’ve been working on mine on and off over the past few days, and I finally have something to share.

It's all under control now...

Here it is. I started with an old bulletin board from my husband’s office that they were getting ready to toss. If I’d been more ambitious, I would have taken off the wooden framing and recovered the board in fabric, but time was of the essence (life doesn’t have to be perfect to be good!).

I covered the whole thing with brown kraft paper instead, using a stapler to easily attach it to the board.

Over on the left side is a calendar, so we can (hopefully!) write in all the scheduled dates we have planned already, including my son’s baseball tournaments. I used scrapbooking stickers to label the months and the different sections of the board.

Then I had everyone write down a goal for the summer (mine is to lose 10 pounds — Weight Watchers starts tomorrow!). I also brainstormed a list with everyone of things we wanted to do this summer. The girls and I wrote all the activities on index cards and put them in a pocket (made from an envelope cut in half).

As we do each one, we’ll place it on the board. Cute, hunh? That’s what I’m about, cute and easy!
